| ST. MARK'S AREA: LITTLE LOGGIA |
The little loggia is placed under St. Mark's Bell Tower it is a work of Jacopo Sansovino (1537-49). It was the seat of the Corps of the Guard of the Arsenalotti; it was involved in the collapse of the bell tower (1902) but it was immediately reconstructed reusing the original fragments. The bronze statues representing Minerva, Apollo, Mercury and the Peace are work of Jacopo Sansovino (1540-45), while the terrace with the balustrade has been realized in the seventeenth century. |
