| ST. MARK'S AREA: ST. MARK'S LITTLE SQUARE |
 It's one of the most suggestive areas in Venice, opened on the Basin and closed toward east by Ducal Building and toward west by the Sansoviniana library. The little squre has two columns in oriental granite withVenetian-Byzantine capitals above which there are the Lion of St. Mark and the Tòdaro (St. Teodoro), first patron of the city. In ancient times between the two columns were performed the capital executions. |
