In a central and peaceful location in Venice, in the Cannaregio district (called by this name from Canal Regio that connects the Canal Grande to the Laguna), heart of authentic Venice, the Hotel Giorgione is close to Rialto and to Cà d'Oro and extremely close to piazza San Marco.
From the hotel you can reach the Ponte di Rialto in only 5 minutes, the lively commercial heart of Venice, with typical gold-making and souvenir shops under the arches. The colorful fruit and vegetable markets are held at the foot of the bridge along with fish shops.
Piazza San Marco is only a 10 minute pleasant walk along narrow streets and small squares, filled with shops and boutiques for both elegant and typical shopping. The heart of faith and once the heart of power of the Serenissima (the old Republic of Venice), piazza San Marco has always given great emotions. The Basilica of San Marco, framed by arcades of the Procuratoria and the Basin of San Marco, wonderful fifth perspective between Palazzo Ducale (Doges’ Palace) and Libreria Marciana (Marciana Library), is a sight to behold.
Hotel Giorgione is close to some lesser known artistic and historic pearls of the city, but rich with charm nonetheless. They are not to be missed during a stay in a hotel in Venice and include : the Casino of Venice, located in Cà Vendramin Calergi, the most beautiful sixteenth century civil architecture in Venice, home also to the Wagner Museum (the famous German composer that lived here and died in 1883); and the church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, a delightful Renaissance gem made of polychrome marble.
TheHotel Giorgione is amongst the most appreciated 4 star hotels in Venice, because it is only 300 meters away from the boat stops of Cà d’Oro and Fondamenta Nuove. With the boats that leave from Cà d'Oro, along the Grand Canal, you arrive at Gallerie dell'Accademia (Academy Galleries) (where you can find paintings by Giorgione, the sixteenth century Venetian master. The hotel is named after him), at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and at the Giardini della Biennale. With the boats that leave from Fondamenta Nuove you arrive at the splendid islands of the Laguna, Murano, Burano and Torcello.
